Uzebox in a router enclosure
A couple of years ago I discovered a fantastic open-source video-game console called Uzebox.
It was right when my son started attending the computer science department at University of Crete, so it seemed a nice time to do a hardware/software project together, and have fun in the process!
We ordered the European variant of the pcb kit called appropriately... Euzebox.
All the parts and tools ready to be assembled
My son practicing some soldering
Half way there
I had this dead router laying around and thought why not
Took some measurements, hacked some plastic and glued some motherboard stand-offs
The front button originally served as a wireless toggle, but was too short to reach the push-button I used on the euzebox.I drilled a hole and glued in a piece of plastic.
and it went like this
Measured and sketched the outlines of the controller inputs
Glued them and soldered some cables for the pcb.
After fixing the bootloader issues it was ready to rock!
The button also serves as a power indicator!
